Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg-driver-fglrx
Just after making an upgrade from hardy to intrepid, I've lost my graphics completely. Even if the xorg-driver-fglrx package was installed, fglrx driver wasn't in use. Jockey-gtk just hanged after trying to activate the fglrx. I came into the tty console and tried inserting the fglrx manually. Here is what I got: $ sudo modprobe fglrx [1086.656545] [fglrx:firegl_init_module] *ERROR* firegl_stub_register failed FATAL: Error inserting fglrx (/lib/modules/2.6.27-7-generic/updates/dkms/fglrx.ko): Operation not permitted. Radeon driver works only if the xorg-driver-fglrx package is not installed (otherwise vesa is used). It is able to do some 3D rendering (for compiz), but hasn't got any XVideo support. Therefore, I can't play any videos at all. Just to be sure that this weird behaviour is not a consequence of my configuration, I downloaded and burned the intrepid's ISO image and booted into liveCD session. I got the same graphics behaviour on liveCD session too. ** Affects: linux-restricted-modules-2.6.24 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: fglrx intrepid -- fglrx doesn't work with Mobility Radeon X1600 on 64bit intrepid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/291210 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
