[Bug 291210] Re: fglrx doesn't work with Mobility Radeon X1600 on 64bit intrepid

[Bug 291210] Re: fglrx doesn't work with Mobility Radeon X1600 on 64bit intrepid
I doubt that. In that case, fglrx would work on a liveCD session. I suppose that on a liveCD session dkms tree is empty. But I get error while inserting the fglrx module - even before I try to start X. And I don't have VirtualBox installed. Anyway, I'll try your suggestion... -- fglrx doesn't work with Mobility Radeon X1600 on 64bit intrepid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/291210 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 291210] Re: fglrx doesn't work with Mobility Radeon X1600 on 64bit intrepid
It's definitely not the bug you suggested, cro. I've cleared my dkms tree and made a clean install of fglrx. I still have the same issue. I've provided my Xorg.0.log with ubuntu's default xorg.conf and fglrx installed, my Xorg.0.log with 'Driver fglrx' line added in 'Section Device' in xorg.conf and my current xorg.conf (with fglrx disabled - just invert the comments in Section Device to get my xorg.conf configuration which generated the second mentioned Xorg.0.log). Difference is now that lsmod | grep fglrx showed that fglrx was loaded but not in use. Any ideas regarding that? ** Attachment added: xorg.log.tar.gz http://launchpadlibrarian.net/19303417/xorg.log.tar.gz -- fglrx fails to modeprobe Mobility Radeon X1600 on 64bit intrepid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/291210 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I got the XVideo support on radeon driver by using EXA instead of XAA. But still, fglrx doesn't work for me at all. Even worse, it doesn't work on friend of mine's laptop. (Mobility Radeon X1250) Does anywone care about this bug?? I reported this bug last night - it isn't a while ago... A steps to reproduce it: 1) boot into liveCD session 2) open synaptic 3) install xorg-driver-fglrx package (and all other packages that synaptic recommends to you) 4) hit ctrl+alt+f1 to enter tty1 console 5) sudo su 6) killall gdm 7) make sure that no gdm or X is running (pidof gdm pidof X) 8) make sure that radeon driver is not used (lsmod | grep radeon) 9) unload radeon driver: rmmod radeon 10) load fglrx: modprobe fglrx 11) crash! [This is an automated message] As of Intrepid (8.10), we have a dedicated package 'fglrx-installer' for fglrx bugs, which now includes a process for upstreaming bugs to AMD. http://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fglrx-installer To transition your bug into the new fglrx-package, we need your help. Please do the following: a. Verify the bug occurs in Intrepid. (Intrepid ISOs: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com) b. If you haven't already, please include in the bug: * Your /var/log/Xorg.0.log * The output of `lspci -vvnn` * Steps to reproduce the issue c. Click 'Also affects distribution' d. Set 'Source Package Name' to 'fglrx-installer' e. Click Continue Thank you. This will assist us in reviewing and upstreaming your fglrx bug, as appropriate. [Bug 291210] Re: fglrx doesn't work with Mobility Radeon X1600 on 64bit intrepid
Hi dodoentertainment, Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? (ISOs are available from cdimage.ubuntu.com) If it remains an issue, could you also attach a new /var/log/Xorg.0.log? Thanks in advance. The output of lspci -vvnn would also be worth having. ** Changed in: fglrx-installer (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- fglrx doesn't work with Mobility Radeon X1600 on 64bit intrepid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/291210 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

We're closing this bug since it is has been some time with no response from the original reporter. However, if the issue still exists please feel free to reopen with the requested information. Also, if you could, please test against the latest development version of Ubuntu, since this confirms the bug is one we may be able to pass upstream for help. ** Changed in: fglrx-installer (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Invalid -- fglrx doesn't work with Mobility Radeon X1600 on 64bit intrepid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/291210 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
