Public bug reported:
On all previous versions of Ubuntu the install process detected my hard
drive a Western Digital WDC WD1600AAJB ATA with no problem, partitioned
the drive and installed fine.
On the latest version 8.10, I get a message "No disk drive was
detected." and a list of possible drives. There appears to be only the
WD7000 in the list.
