[Bug 294702] Re: Kernel Panic 2.6.27-7
I'm going to close this bug, because there is no issue now. Please reopen if this is still an issue in the current Ubuntu release, Jaunty Jackalope 9.04 - http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download. If the issue remains in Jaunty, please test the latest upstream kernel build - https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . To reopen the bug, click on the current status under the Status column and change the status back to New. Thanks. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Fix Released -- Kernel Panic 2.6.27-7 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/294702 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 294702] Re: Kernel Panic 2.6.27-7
I upgraded to Jaunty four days ago and I am now using kernel version 2.6.28-13-generic. Kernel panics did not recur. -- Kernel Panic 2.6.27-7 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/294702 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 294702] Re: Kernel Panic 2.6.27-7
Unfortunately it seems this bug is still an issue. Can you confirm this issue exists with the most recent Jaunty Jackalope 9.04 release - http://www.ubuntu.com/news/ubuntu-9.04-desktop . If the issue remains in Jaunty, Please run the following command from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report. apport-collect -p linux-image-2.6.28-11-generic bug # If you could also test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine this issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream- testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results. [Bug 294702] Re: Kernel Panic 2.6.27-7
By now, I am still using Hardy, with kernel 2.6.27-14-generic. I did not have any kernel panics since a couple of months now. Unfortunately, I do not remember the kernel update that made my system stable... I plan to upgrade to Jaunty in a few days. If the problem recurs, I will post the details here. -- Kernel Panic 2.6.27-7 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/294702 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 294702] Re: Kernel Panic 2.6.27-7
I see the same issue. System reboots on its own or freezes every few days. The previous kernel was much stable. I tried to install crash kernel but could not find one in the repos. I have attached lspci output. ** Attachment added: lspci.log http://launchpadlibrarian.net/19619861/lspci.log -- Kernel Panic 2.6.27-7 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/294702 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 294702] Re: Kernel Panic 2.6.27-7
I can confirm this: I also get random kernel panics every few days (so the machine freezes, ignores the sysrq keys, and blinks caps and numlock lights). I am using exactly the same kernel version (i.e. the outputs of lsb_release and apt-cache are the same). My lspci output is attached. ** Attachment added: lspci.log http://launchpadlibrarian.net/19546059/lspci.log -- Kernel Panic 2.6.27-7 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/294702 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 294702] Re: Kernel Panic 2.6.27-7
Would you be able to take a digital photo of the kernel panic and attach it to this bug report? It will just help to try and narrow down the issue. However, I do notice from the lspci output that you have an Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG card. I've seen bug reports regarding kernel panics with he iwlwifi drivers which were resolved after installing linux-backports-modules-intrepid. Care to try installing this package and see if it helps. Otherwise, provide the kernel panic is going to be the most helpful.
