[Bug 295709] Re: ext monitor recognition after upgrade intrepid ibex 8.10

2008-11-11 Thread lutterworth
well... a bit later...

not really solved for me: once not connected to the external monitor and
just running on my laptop screen x-server would not start and i could
get no graphical screen.

had to modify xorg.conf again in order to get it started.

what would be a xorg.conf that would allow me to use my laptop scree
when i am not connected and the external screen when i am connected to
it??

would appreciate your help!

thanks magnus, i will attach the files. maybe worth mentioning is that i
get an image on the external monitor (samsung syncmaster 225 mw with the
svideo cable, however this is very bad res and no way to adjust the
proper resolution.

the results now are

syslog and xorg with the monitor connected through a rgb cable

Hi lutterworth, good job.

Can you also run the following in a terminal:
* lspci -vvnn  ~/lspci-vvnn_295709.txt

This will create the file lspci-vvnn_295709.txt in your home directory
and fill it with more information about the hardware. Please attach that
file too:p

2008-11-10 Thread lutterworth
hi magnus

i looked at the other bug and the before last answer

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-
intel/+bug/259414/comments/12

i tried it and it worked!!

i get the ext-monitor running from login screen onwards, i can set the
ext-monitor resolution (however not the right resolution for my local
machine). despite the eee-pc i have an image also on my local machine,
with the ext-monitor reolution. anyway - it seems to work that way.

thank you for your help

(but i realise now, after the first euphoria is over , the image is not
excactly centered and some things are outside the frame.)

Also see bug #233787 as another Eee PC. I'm not sure quirking off the
LVDS would solve this particular issue though.

Does it work better if you put this in your /etc/X11/xorg.conf?

n section Section Device add the line:

Option monitor-LVDS LVDS

Then the following new section:

 Section Monitor
  Identifier LVDS Option Ignore True

  EndSection

If so, we can quirk it.

2008-11-08 Thread Magnus S
Hi and thanks for reporting this bug. However more information is
needed. Please post the output from the following commands:

* lshw -C display
* uname -a

Restart your system and connect the external monitor. Wait a few seconds
and then attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log and /var/log/syslog to this
bug.

Thanks in advance.
