*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 34043 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/34043 Ok I have now upgraded the system to karmic alpha. I no longer need to do step 3 that I mentioned before: 3)(this was for the USB wireless card) put this into a file in /etc/pm/config.d SUSPEND_MODULES="rt2500usb" but I still need to do steps 1 and 2: steps 1 and 2 are from https://help.ubuntu.com/community/NvidiaLaptopBinaryDriverSuspend 1)(this was for the nvidia card) put this in /etc/X11/xorg.conf: Option "NvAGP" "1" 2)(this was for the nvidia card also) blacklist intel_agp ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 34043 Nvidia binary driver requires Option "NvAGP" "1" for reliable suspend/resume -- suspend/resume is broken on my desktop after upgrading to intrepid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/296996 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 296996] Re: suspend/resume is broken on my desktop after upgrading to intrepid
I don't understand the different bug statuses in launchpad. why does a bug get marked incomplete if I am FULLY willing to do whatever testing that is needed to get the the thing fixed. Am I suppose to change it's status or just people that do triaging/fixing? Is there a wikipage out there for how to report a bug, and what a bug reporters responsibilities are It's DAMN annoying to see my bugs that I have had for several _years_ get "marked for expiration" simply since no one has fixed them. How do I keep it from getting "marked for expiration"!? Do I just have to re-report the bug? I changed the status to new, since I don't want it to be "marked for expiration". but that did not work. sorry to be off topic, but I keep running in the this problem; and NO it is NOT obvious to some one that does not use launchpad everyday. -- suspend/resume is broken on my desktop after upgrading to intrepid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/296996 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 296996] Re: suspend/resume is broken on my desktop after upgrading to intrepid
I tested it with karmic alpha 3 live cd. It suspends fine, but fails to resume. on resume it just shows a black screen. Note the live cd uses the open source video drivers, so these conditions might be slightly different from the above report. I normally am using the nvidia restricted drivers. Please let me know if there is any thing more I can do. Are there any log files I should generate or send you. thanks -- suspend/resume is broken on my desktop after upgrading to intrepid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/296996 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 296996] Re: suspend/resume is broken on my desktop after upgrading to intrepid
Just want to try to keep this report up to date. Care to test and confirm this issue remains with the latest development release of Ubuntu (ie Karmic 9.10). ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . You should be able to test suspend using a LiveCD if you didn't want to install/upgrade just yet. Please let us know your results. [Bug 296996] Re: suspend/resume is broken on my desktop after upgrading to intrepid
Ok so I found a way to get it 'working' steps 1 and 2 are from https://help.ubuntu.com/community/NvidiaLaptopBinaryDriverSuspend 1)(this was for the nvidia card) put this in /etc/X11/xorg.conf: Option "NvAGP" "1" 2)(this was for the nvidia card also) blacklist intel_agp 3)(this was for the USB wireless card) put this into a file in /etc/pm/config.d SUSPEND_MODULES="rt2500usb" The Third step is since the wireless card's driver is not unloaded and i guess it needs to be?? Ok, to be clear, this is not a regression, I was wrong about this working in hardy. I had forgotten that I had done steps (1) and (2) before, and this wireless card is new to this system(i was using a different one before). should I file a separate bug report for the rt2500usb driver with suspend. I thought that pm-util was suppose to automatically unload/reload wifi drivers on suspend??? -- suspend/resume is broken on my desktop after upgrading to intrepid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/296996 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I tried to launch the Jaunty 9.04 (Alpha4) Live CD, but it got hung up at the screen asking if i want to "try..." or "install..." or what ever. I tried pressing "try" and "the check for defects", but it just each time it just hung there for a long time and did nothing. when Jaunty 9.04 is final, I will be sure to test this again then...
Hi Mike, Care to test and confirm if this issue remains with the most recent pre- release of Jaunty 9.04 (currently Alpha4) - http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/jaunty/ . It contains a newer 2.6.28 based kernel. You should be able to test suspend via a LiveCD. Please let us know your results.
