I feel the bug in Lucid is a regression. I do not have this problem in an up-to-date Ubuntu 9.10. If I type in an incorrect password, a new screen comes up stating that I've entered an incorrect password and prompting me to try again. I should also clarify a few things. First, Synaptic was just an example. This happens any time the gksu prompt appears. I do not have this behaviour with Intrepid 8.10 and gksudo 2.0.0-5ubuntu3.
