thanks, don't have it installed, checked with synaptic and is not. maybe a long time ago, before the changes of editions and reinstalls of Ubuntu. I am marking this bug as incomplete as there was no response from the original reporter. ** Changed in: cacti (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/300032 Title: package cacti 0.8.7b-2.1ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess pre-removal script returned error exit status 1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cacti/+bug/300032/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 300032] Re: package cacti 0.8.7b-2.1ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess pre-removal script returned error exit status 1
I had a look at your DpkgTerminalLog.gz file. It seems that you removed cacti twice. The first time it removed the database successfully. Then you installed cacti, and I assume you then didn't have the database created. The second time removal failed because it was there was no database. So the problem is, where did it go wrong in your experience? I agree things should "just work", but for database management this needs careful attention during installation. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/300032 Title: package cacti 0.8.7b-2.1ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess pre-removal script returned error exit status 1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cacti/+bug/300032/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 300032] Re: package cacti 0.8.7b-2.1ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess pre-removal script returned error exit status 1
If apt breaks and you want it to work again, run "sudo aptitude", press 'g' and then ',' until it no longer tries to remove cacti. Then press 'g' again. To work around the issue and remove cacti: 1. sudo dpkg-reconfigure -plow debconf 2. Set the priority to low. 3. sudo apt-get remove cacti 4.
