[Bug 303135] Re: CPU soft lockup during Intrepid AlternateCD boot on HP EliteBook 2530p
Hi Mike, This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/karmic . If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report. apport-collect -p linux 303135 Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream- testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results. Thanks in advance. [This is an automated message. [Bug 303135] Re: CPU soft lockup during Intrepid AlternateCD boot on HP EliteBook 2530p
** Description changed: I am trying to install Ubuntu Intrepid on a HP 2530p laptop. When the Alternate CD boots, it halts with a message about a soft lockup. This machine is a new machine, upon which I've installed WinXP. Steps to reproduce: 1. Boot machine from Alternate CD; 2. Select English as language, then Install Ubuntu; 3. Screen goes blank with a flashing cursor (_). 4. Wait a minute or so. Symptoms: There is a (seemingly) endless stream of: [ 66.572001 ] BUG: soft lockup = CPU#0 stuck for 61s [modprobe:981] [ 132.572001 ] BUG: soft lockup = CPU#0 stuck for 61s [modprobe:981] [ XXX.XX ] BUG: soft lockup = CPU#0 stuck for 61s [modprobe:981] ... As the machine locks before I can get to a terminal, I'm not sure whether I can provide any logs as described on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingCasper. + + I have tried booting normally, and using the "noapic nolapic" options as + mentioned in other bugs with similar errors. -- CPU soft lockup during Intrepid AlternateCD boot on HP EliteBook 2530p https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/303135 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
