yes. it seems that this particular model is not well supported by default. It seems that is a configuration issue that can be solved by tweaking some files. Have you been able to test a different livecd distro to check if that works with it? Some people with the same problem: http://forum.ubuntu-it.org/index.php?topic=249503.msg1749494 Let's do some tests: Try the mouse under I wonder if the mouse works under console instead of X.. in order to be able to do that test, go to a console (ctrl-alt-f1, a couple of times), and install there: sudo apt-get install gpm After that try to move the mouse, you'll see a white box (cursor) moving around. This would tell us if the mouse is seen by the kernel Also we need to check in graphical mode how it responds to xev. So from a terminal start xev and try to move ONLY the mouse and clic it's buttons. Upload the log here.
