2009-01-23 Thread Daniel T Chen
I can't confirm this symptom in 9.04. Please set the status to:
1) New if reproducible in the development Ubuntu version, or
2) Fix Released if you cannot reproduce it in the development Ubuntu version.

Jaunty's version downloads from Canonical's partner repository instead
of Adobe's web site.

[Bug 310504] Re: package flashplugin-nonfree 10.0.15.3ubuntu1~intrepid1 failed to install/upgrade:

2009-01-23 Thread Tony Maro
I don't have a machine to test in the devel version, but what I might
suggest is to disconnect the network cable then run the update install -
to simulate a connection problem to Macromedia's servers. The fact
their servers weren't responding at the time isn't the bug - the fact
the installer refused to give up after so many timeouts is a problem.

[Bug 310504] Re: package flashplugin-nonfree 10.0.15.3ubuntu1~intrepid1 failed to install/upgrade:

2008-12-26 Thread Tony Maro
That link works just fine. I believe the timeout problem was definitely
on Macromedia's end. After my upgrade and reboot I also attempted to go
to Macromedia's website at that time and use their download link and it
wouldn't download either.

I think the real bug here is that the package updater refused to give up
and as a result I had to manually cancel the update attempt, and then
the updater reported the problem and offered to file this bug report (to
which I agreed.)

For someone unfamiliar with Linux, I'm sure it would have been a scary
prospect to cancel an OS upgrade manually - in fact most people may not
have even known to hit CTRL-C to make it stop trying to download.

Also, the link shown in the box during the OS upgrade as where it was
trying to download the file from (show details) was the one I posted in
the comments (fpdownload.macromedia.com...)

Dukai, your issue is known and is not relevant to the version described
in this bug report. Please note that yours refers to 9.0.124.0, whereas
this report refers to 10.0.15.3 (on ia32) and 10.0.21.1 (on amd64).

Tony, the download url for your plugin (for amd64) is not
fpdownload.macromedia.com but download.macromedia.com. Can you reproduce
the download error when you attempt to download
http://download.macromedia.com/pub/labs/flashplayer10/libflashplayer-10.0.d21.1.linux-x86_64.so.tar.gz
directly through your web browser? (i.e., is it a proxy issue - if so,
that's also known)
