A UNC style error means a bad hard disk. But, in the mini 9 it'd actlually be SSD (solid state disk), rather than a rotating disk. Still though, either the disk didn't get plugged in properly or it's bad. I am not a lawyer but I think that Dell is responsible here. Ubuntu usually installs flawlessly if you do it yourself from a live CD or a USB flash drive. That means that Dell screwed it up and not Ubuntu. Since your Dell mini has no CD drive, you should probably use a USB flash drive if you want to reinstall Ubuntu. Maybe you should try to call the Dell hotline since they probably made a mistake installing the operating system on your computer. Does anyone know which kind of Ubuntu is used on the Dell mini laptops?
