I'm not sure if it is the same issue but I am experiencing something very similar. When I export something as a pdf from AbiWord, the result looks garbled in Acrobat Reader but not in evince. However if I select text in evince, parts of it become garbled as well. For example, the fl ligature. Unfortunately I do not have a computer with Ubuntu installed any more, so I can't be much help with this bug. However, retesting this with Abiword 2.6.4 on Debian Sid I get the same garbled result. I am using the standard English language settings. Thanks for reporting this bug. I am using Xubuntu Jaunty 9.04 with all updates as of 2009-02-07. I used the file given and saved it to a .pdf in AbiWord. The resulting file opened in evince document viewer as expected, with out the distorted font. I have only the English language files loaded and in use. Perhaps you have a different language package loaded?
