Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-chips

Ubuntu 8.10, using xserver-xorg-video-chips 1:1.2.0-1build2 driver.

Without an xorg.conf specifying "chips" as the driver, the vesa driver
is loaded. Unfortunately, I'm unable to get 1280x1024 resolution with
that driver.

When the "chips" driver is specified, X will not start.

This forum posting (http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=57223)
indicates that it may be a problem with libpciaccess changes for 1.2.

** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-chips (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
