[Bug 312707] Re: chips driver not loaded for 69030 chipset

2009-12-11 Thread Timo Aaltonen
This should be fixed in Lucid alpha1, which has version 1.2.2 of the
driver. Particularly this change should have fixed it:

author Matthieu Herrb matthieu.he...@laas.fr 2009-07-19 08:37:37 (GMT)
committer Matthieu Herrb matthieu.he...@laas.fr 2009-07-19 08:39:28
(GMT)
commit 722267e99012d0b8bbd7f22eaeac99e85bf48e0c

Fix PCI card probe and chipset detection.

it appears that the chipstechnologies X driver was partially broken during
libpciaccess conversion. Thanks to the analysis by Marien Swart in bug #18122
and a similar fix by Mark Kettenis for the radeon driver.

[Bug 312707] Re: chips driver not loaded for 69030 chipset

2009-01-17 Thread Bryce Harrington
** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-chips

  Ubuntu 8.10, using xserver-xorg-video-chips 1:1.2.0-1build2 driver.

Without an xorg.conf specifying chips as the driver, the vesa driver
is loaded. Unfortunately, I'm unable to get 1280x1024 resolution with
  that driver.

When the chips driver is specified, X will not start.

I've rolled back to 8.04.1 and the chips driver is loaded correctly
with a minimal xorg.conf.
