I am still having the problem for most everything that pops up on the bar as well as krunner. I stopped KDM, did a fresh full-upgrade at 10:10 am EST 1/20/09, and removed all the files from my /home before rebooting. The plasmoids on the desktop are working correctly and I believe that issue for me was unrelated to this bug and is now resolved. So again in summery, kmenu, Quick Access, and Device Notifier only show the border of there window until they are resized. Krunner shows correctly at the start but can switch to showing just border as things are typed in. I'm still having problems with the Kmenu, it still only shows the borders. Krunner works fine. I'm closing this as Fix released, since it's fixed for me now: everything gets displayed properly with desktop effects disabled, too. Apparently the recent rebuilds against current libplasma-dev have fixed this? I'm having the same problem. Mine affects the Quick Access as well. I have found that if you play with the border (click/resize) that you can get the rest to show. I am full updated as of 1/15/09 @ 2:19 EST. No compositing enabled in KDE nor X. I am running the NV driver on an old GeForce2 GTS. I have let xorg make my settings and xorg.conf is empty. I should add that my plasma panel is working/displaying fine. Also the 'Notes' plasmoid is transparent rather then having a yellow bg.
