Re: [Bug 314395] Re: Unable to boot Ubuntu 8.10 w/ RAID 1
I switched back to 8.04 and setup sw raid instead. Don't have access to that server anymore for testing. Sorry. Status in “dmraid” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: I have a Dell PowerEdge SC1425 server that I am installed 8.10 server on. The server has an onboard Intel Cerca SATA RAID controller, and I have set up two drives in a mirror (RAID1). During the install of 8.10, I was prompted to enable the SATA RAID, which I did, and the installation went fine. However, when I rebooted the system, Ubuntu failed to come up and placed me at the shell. The error I received was something like this -Alert! /dev/mapper/ddf1_RAID11 does not exist Then when I run the command 'dmraid -ay' at the prompt and exit out of the shell, Ubuntu comes up fine. $ sudo fdisk -lu Disk /dev/sda: 160.0 GB, 1600 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 19452 cylinders, total 31250 sectors Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes Disk identifier: 0x000ce1cb Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sda1 63 299483729 149741833+ 83 Linux /dev/sda2 299483730 312223274 6369772+ 5 Extended /dev/sda5 299483793 312223274 6369741 82 Linux swap / Solaris Disk /dev/sdb: 160.0 GB, 160041885696 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 19457 cylinders, total 312581808 sectors Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes Disk identifier: 0x000ce1cb Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sdb1 63 299483729 149741833+ 83 Linux /dev/sdb2 299483730 312223274 6369772+ 5 Extended /dev/sdb5 299483793 312223274 6369741 82 Linux swap / Solaris sudo dmraid -r /dev/sdb: ddf1, .ddf1_disks, GROUP, ok, 312239151 sectors, data@ 0 /dev/sda: ddf1, .ddf1_disks, GROUP, ok, 312239151 sectors, data@ 0 ls /dev/mapper control ddf1_RAID1 ddf1_RAID11 ddf1_RAID15 Any ideas? I am having the same issue at the moment. Running an apt-get upgrade to see if any of the updated modules takes care of this issue despite the fact that a number of RAID related modules have been updated. -- Unable to boot Ubuntu 8.10 w/ RAID 1 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/314395 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
