Public bug reported:

After I installed ndiswrapper checkgmail always asks for the password at
start-up, even if the password is saved. This bug occurs in Ubuntu 8.10
32/64 bit. The funny thing is that when you do a Ctrl-Alt-Esc, the
password remains saved. As soon as you uninstall ndiswrapper the
password is saved even after a full boot-up. I tried to delete the
checkgmail preferences file to see if the new created one would fix the
problem, but no luck.
