[Bug 318015] Re: "[fglrx] ASIC hang happened" - crash on switching to AC power

2009-03-23 Thread Bryce Harrington
** Description changed:

Intermittently, plugging power into my laptop crashes it, with the
screen being corrupted (best described as all pixels on the screen
moving a few to the left or right).

I have attached a snippet from /var/log/messages which seems relevant.

This is on a Thinkpad T60 running Ubuntu 8.10, 32 bit.

  uname -a says:
  Linux urgyen 2.6.27-11-generic #1 SMP Thu Jan 15 11:03:58 UTC 2009 i686
GNU/Linux

  Linux-restricted-modules is at 2.6.27.7.11.

Let me know if there is anything else I should provide.

2009-01-28 Thread dead bear
I have the same problem, on a machine with that yields the same lspci
info...

If it helps, In my syslog file these lines always occur together and
only with the hang, which follows immediately mostly, but sometimes as
late as [ 78.712010]...

Jan 28 19:29:13 dea kernel: [ 47.899724] [fglrx] Reserved FB block: Shared

likely on the PCI bus.
Jan 28 19:29:14 dea kernel: [ 48.711650] Dazed and confused, but trying to

The last three lines never happen on a successful boot.

Can't see how it might be relevant - my battery was at 31% capacity.
I've just replaced it with a new one. Don't know if that is in any way.

[Bug 318015] Re: "[fglrx] ASIC hang happened" - crash on switching to AC power

2009-01-17 Thread Lars Gjesse Kjellberg
I think this is the same problem as described in the forum:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=6301778

I had the same problem on my Thinkpad T60, but the suggested solution
did not work for me. Instead, the command:

sudo aticonfig --acpi-services=off

helps.

I have reported a bug (#312735) for the same problem.
I wonder if this problem only exists on Thinkpads?
