Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kipi-plugins
This affects the kipi-plugins package in jaunty, version 0.2.0~beta6-0ubuntu5. The package contains the "DNG Converter", which uses the Adobe DNG SDK, a library for reading and writing DNG files, see dngconverter/dngwriter/extra/dng_sdk in the unpacked source tree. These files have the following header: /*****************************************************************************/ // Copyright 2006 Adobe Systems Incorporated // All Rights Reserved. // // NOTICE: Adobe permits you to use, modify, and distribute this file in // accordance with the terms of the Adobe license agreement accompanying it. /*****************************************************************************/ The first problem is that as far as I can find, the Adobe license agreement is not included in the source tree, and that in itself would seem to be a problem. Some searching brings up http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/dng/dng_sdk_eula_win.html which would seem to be the license in question. This license is not free according the Debian Free Software Guidelines (I asked one of the Debian ftpmasters about it). It might be free enough for the Ubuntu universe component. However, the license text should still be included in the source tree, with the DNG SDK. ** Affects: kipi-plugins (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- kipi-plugins contains DNG Converter that embeds non-free Adobe library and omits license text https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/319230 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
