You guys are right, early versions of Amarok were not yet feature
complete and didn't have everything working out yet. But with the
latest versions of Amarok (2.1.1) a lot of work has gone into the
various artists detection and display. Would you mind updating and
letting us how Amarok behaves with your Various Artist albums, and what
it should do? Please report back the version of Amarok you're using
(''apt-cache policy amarok'') too.

This is probably about Amarok 2? Then let me contribute! In Amarok 2 in Intrepid. I tried to work around this by putting "Various Artists" to the artist fields of such albums.
