It suddenly, for no apparent reason, started working properly.

When using my KVM switch to switch between desktops the keyboard and
mouse no longer work when I return to Kubuntu 8.10/KDE4.1.x. The only
way I can regain use of my computeris to kill it with the power switch
and reboot.
It works fine in Kubuntu 8.04/KDE3.x10
