I also can confirm that this issue does NOT exist any longer in SVN. A lot of work has gone into PDF import/export and this issue has been resolved in trunk and will be available in 0.47 (or a current nightly build if you'd be inclined to help with testing). Here is a PDF I have the error loading. I did notice this file was edited with Adobe Acrobat professional and then saved again as a PDF file. IF the file is not touched by Adobe software Inkscape seems to be able to load the file image. Thanks for looking in to it. I like the Inkscape software it is pretty good.
