While that is indeed an improvement, I think the bug perhaps needs to be
redirected to the fact that the error message is pretty useless. In the
same way that gnome tells you that it is ignoring your .dmrc file when
it doesn't have the correct ownership and permissions, perhaps the
openoffice should also tell you about this. An error message like 'can't
determine language' is the kind of thing that scares off new users.

It does not show up as blank on my install it shows the attached
screenshot instead and it is closable.
