This bug report was filed against an old version of Ubuntu. Can you confirm whether this is still an issue in natty? Is this a problem with the package you're downloading, or a problem with how you have your video card set up? Make sure you have the "mesa-utils" package installed, and run "glxgears" from a terminal. This will bring up a pop-up window that should show a set of interlocked gears turning. In the meantime, every 10 seconds or so, the terminal window will print out a message about the number of frames per second that you're seeing in the pop-up window. While this is not intended as a benchmarking tool, it is an extremely efficient test of whether opengl is working for you. Make sure that glxgears stays running for half a minute or more before you close it. If your pop-up window only shows black (no gears), if your fps show less than 1000, or if glxgears after printing only a couple fps messages before crashing, then something needs to be addressed with your card setup, and this is an appropriate place to deal with that issue. If glxgears runs fine, and you're still having problems with this one package, I would suggest that its more likely there's a problem in the package that needs to be addressed with the author of the package.
