The problem is that Allegro debian team (the guys that build the package for debian) doesn't release a new version. Therefore, as Ubuntu merge its repository to debian, we cannot have an updated version of the package. Even if someone in ubuntu updates this package, we can not have it in karmic (next version) because the new stream process has finished and only bugs fix releases are allowed. Maybe in lucid (10.04). Anyway I have packaged the game with CVS code on 21th Sep 2009, I do not know if the code was stable in that date, but I have it installed in my computer and at least nothing seems broken (I haven't got sound in my computer so sound has not been tested).
