[Bug 326604] Re: jaunty install resize partition fails on Latitude D630

2010-07-16 Thread Grant Bowman
The problem is what I tripped on and in the log above:

ERROR: Extended record needed (3696 1024), not yet supported!
Feb 23 15:10:30 ubuntu ntfsresize: Please try to free less space.

I bet this bug is a duplicate. I guess this is a bug in ntfstools?

I am also having problems with Jaunty Beta install (Asus a6g laptop):

Never had a resizing problem with 8.04, 8.10 or SysResqCd. Cd faulty
check and S.M.A.R.T reports for disk ok. Have not tried chkdsk /f yet.

2009-02-23 Thread Dave Wolovich
I have also just seen this happen on my system using Jaunty Alpha 4 Live
CD. I tried to resize an NTFS system (Windows 7 beta) and it just sat
there for 10 minutes or so. Finally a message came up saying it could
not write the changes to the disk. I rebooted the Live CD and attempted
it again with the same result. Here's some output:

[Bug 326604] Re: jaunty install resize partition fails on Latitude D630

2009-02-07 Thread itismike
possibly bad install cd or bad HD:

The installer encountered an error copying files to the hard disk:

[Errno 5] Input/output error

This is often due to a faulty CD/DVD disk or drive, or a faulty hard
disk. It may help to clean the CD/DVD, to burn the CD/DVD at a lower
speed, to clean the CD/DVD drive lens (cleaning kits are often available
from electronics suppliers), to check whether the hard disk is old and
in need of replacement, or to move the system to a cooler environment.
