I'm new to all of this but maybe my input can help. I have Ubuntu 8.04 and firefox 3.0 fully updated as of today. I am having the same issue, flash does not work on sites such as you tube and sites with flash intros, however most flash advertisements do work. I have tried using the proprietary flash 10 from both Adobe's website and the Ubuntu add/remove program list. I have also tried using the Macromedia Flash plugin, Flash player 9, in Ubuntu's add/remove list. I only used one plugin at a time and restarted the computer after each plugin change. Thank you for this bug report. Firefox-3.0 cannot by itself view flash videos. You need to install a flash player. Flash Player 10 is available to use for viewing flash videos and works quite well. To install it go System->Administration->Software Sources->Third-Party Software and the enable the partner repository. After this is done install the package adobe-flashplugin. You will then have to restart Firefox. Now, if you have already installed a flash player, what package did you install to view flash? Do you know what version it is?
