Could you please run the install again in debug mode (`ubiquity -d` in a terminal window) and use a password that has the symbols you speak of, but is not your regular password (as it will be copied to the log files). Once the install crashes, please attach /var/log/syslog and /var/log/installer/debug to this bug report following the instructions in http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingUbiquity/AttachingLogs . Hum, that's a problem, I tried what you said in a virtual machine (no computer free...), with another password (containing 'my' symbols) and it actually don't want to crash (3 times, already). I'm sorry... What do you want, the unicode point ? In fact, it is really simple symbol (ascii), like U+0021, U+0023, U+0028, U+002F, U+003D, U+0040, U+005B, U+005C, U+007B, U+007E (mine are in this list). Indeed, I am equally unable to reproduce this using (U+0023) as a password. I would suggest running ubiquity in debug mode for future installation attempts (`ubiquity -d` in a terminal window), and if it crashes attach /var/log/installer/debug, /var/log/syslog, and /var/log/partman to this or a new bug report. If the install completes successfully, do delete /var/log/installer/debug as it contains your password. It is only readable by root, though.
