I also have this bug, it behaves just the way the first post is described. I have an LG R700 laptop and currently running Xubuntu 11.10 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/333033 Title: [LG E500 laptop] suspend/resume problem To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/333033/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 333033] Re: [LG E500 laptop] suspend/resume problem
I have read a article time ago where it said that the problem is on system.firmware.vendor value. The kernel don't recognize American Megatrends Inc. and can't resume. They proposed to edit the BIOS and changed this value to another like Micro-Start. I don't know how do it. :) In my case these values are: system.board.product = 'MS-16371' (string) system.board.serial = 'BSS-0123456789' (string) system.board.vendor = 'MICRO-STAR INT'L CO.,LTD' (string) system.board.version = 'Ver 1.000' (string) system.chassis.manufacturer = 'To Be Filled By O.E.M.' (string) system.chassis.type = 'Notebook' (string) system.firmware.release_date = '04/01/2008' (string) system.firmware.vendor = 'American Megatrends Inc.' (string) system.firmware.version = 'A1637IL1 V1.66' (string) system.formfactor = 'laptop' (string) system.hardware.primary_video.product = 10754 (0x2a02) (int) system.hardware.primary_video.vendor = 32902 (0x8086) (int) system.hardware.product = 'LGE500' (string) system.hardware.serial = '706MSLN003632' (string) system.hardware.uuid = '4C1273C8-7584-DD11-8000-504350524F44' (string) system.hardware.vendor = 'LG Electronics' (string) system.hardware.version = 'LG-1637' (string) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/333033 Title: [LG E500 laptop] suspend/resume problem To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/333033/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

This is still a problem in 11.10 (kernel 3.0.0-13-generic)! What additional info should I provide? [Bug 333033] Re: [LG E500 laptop] suspend/resume problem
Is this reproducible say over 10 cycles. Has suspend ever worked in the past, if so which kernel release (cat /proc/version_signature)? Please include any information as to the circumstances leading up to this failure, for example did your battery run out? Did the machine lock up, did any messages come out? If it is reproducible could you try the suspend from VT1, press ctrl-alt-F1, login, and run pm-suspend there. If you could test and report back here that would be helpful. ** Summary changed: - suspend/resume problem + [LG E500 laptop] suspend/resume problem ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- [LG E500 laptop] suspend/resume problem https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/333033 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 333033] Re: [LG E500 laptop] suspend/resume problem
I tested 10 cycles and the error appear always. Suspend never worked on my laptop. In all cases, my battery is always kept loaded. Whenever I suspend my laptop it shuts down properly, and to suspend the light is blinking. This is correct. The problem is when I restore it. The laptop comes to turn on. The disc is turned, and after a few seconds shuts down permanently. All lights turn off. After this, turn to start normally. When I try the suspend from VT1 the error is the same. During the Usplash I press the Alt + F1 and get an error message when trying to read a boot file, but did not recover this message. You know like back? When I execute the command cat /proc/version_signature the console displays the following message Ubuntu 2.6.28-8.24-generic. Please, if you need any further information do not hesitate to ask me.
