[Bug 336230] Re: unable to connect to WPA-protected network
Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu 9.04 reached EOL on October 23, 2010. Please see this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases I've tried recreating this bug with Ubuntu 10.04 and was unable to, given the information you've provided. Please either a) upgrade and test or b) increase the verbosity of the steps to recreate it so we can try again. Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find. ** Changed in: network-manager (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/336230 Title: unable to connect to WPA-protected network To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/336230/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 336230] Re: unable to connect to WPA-protected network
Same problem as above. Looks like it is connecting, but then continues the request for password, although it is already input. This is on an eeeBox running 9.04 via a unetbootin created USB. I had tried it before I locked down my network and it did work then. Just won't work with my WPA protected network. -- unable to connect to WPA-protected network https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/336230 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 336230] Re: unable to connect to WPA-protected network
I have Lenovo X300 notebook with Ubuntu Jaunty alpha6 installed on it and I'm experiencing exactly the same problem. I'm unable to connect to the WPA/WPA2 protected network - network manager is constantly asking me for WPA/WPA2 key (SSID is not hidden). Just like Gábor wrote, when asked to retype WPA/WPA2 key, the password text box is pre-filled with long hexadecimal string. ** Attachment added: lspci output http://launchpadlibrarian.net/24064248/lspci.txt -- unable to connect to WPA-protected network https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/336230 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 336230] Re: unable to connect to WPA-protected network
after more testing, it might be that the problem is not really with NetworkManager. i installed wicd (which uninstalled NetworkManager), and there it was much easier to see exactly what is happening. when i set my access point to not-hidden mode (broadcast SSID), then i was able to connect to the WPA1 network. when i set it to hidden, i was not able to connect to it anymore. in fact, wicd claimed the network does not exist. normally at this point i would be suspicious about the access-point, that maybe it's just broken, but i am able to connect to it's hidden WPA1 network without problems from the suse-linux-enterprise-desktop-10, which is preinstalled on the laptop. -- unable to connect to WPA-protected network https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/336230 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 336230] Re: unable to connect to WPA-protected network
regarding the driver used, it's a binary-only driver called wl. ubuntu reports that a binary driver is used, and if i disable it, then (after restart), the wireless device is not even available. in the preinstalled suse-linux-enterprise-desktop-10, it seems the same wl driver is used, but i do not know if the exact same version or a different one. -- unable to connect to WPA-protected network https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/336230 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 336230] Re: unable to connect to WPA-protected network
after further testing, it seems it's not completely blackwhite... if i set my access-point to non-hidden (means with SSID broadcasted) WPA1, then sometimes i'm able to connect. if i set it to hidden, i'm unable to connect. but even in the non-hidden-ssid case, it's not 100% sure that the connection will be established... i was trying to find out what networkmanager is doing in more details, but i couldn't find any log-files or such... is there maybe a way to force networkmanager to log what he's doing? -- unable to connect to WPA-protected network https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/336230 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
