Since it doesn't seem like Saucy will pull version available in Debian Jessie/Sid. Hello Dave, Just recently, I finally managed to push the new version of "googleearth-package" (1.0) into Debian Sid/Jessie, this version deals with the problem you've described in your report above. However, "Debian import freeze" for Saucy has already been made, and it doesn't seem like 1.0 will make it into 13.10 release. To not leave Ubuntu users neglected, I decided to upload the same version for Ubuntu 12.04/12.10/13.04/13.10 to my PPA dedicated to "googleearth-package". Still happens on Saucy's 0.7.0 googleearth-package; it's still generating a package dependent on ia32-libs-gtk. Actually it is. I solved this problem in 0.6.1 by adding "!= i386 dependency field generator" which is in make-googleearth-package script (line 399) - # != i386 dependency field generator if [ "$(dpkg-architecture -qDEB_BUILD_ARCH)" != "i386" ]; then ia32libs=", ia32-libs-gtk" fi if [ "$(dpkg-architecture -qDEB_BUILD_ARCH)" == "amd64" ]; then nvidia32="nvidia-glx-ia32" fi - Adding ia32-libs to debian/control as dependency has nothing to do with Google Earth, but rather the package that builds that builds its package. googleearth-package does not depend on ia32-libs. http://packages.ubuntu.com/maverick/googleearth-package http://packages.ubuntu.com/natty/googleearth-package This is a package for all architectures. ia32-libs is available only on amd64. Agree also on my 64 system. Packages like Google Earth and Skype which needs ia32libs cannot install in 10.04. ia32 libs needs urgent attention by the package managers for Ubuntu because attempts to install it fails as it is dependent on a range of packages which is not included in the Lucid repositories. This is when doing a clean install. When a upgrade is done ia32libs is there and google and skype works with it because it is the old version. There are many bugs reported in 10.04 which is a direct consequence of this packaging problem and it is urgent to fix it in my opinion.
