better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all 
reported bugs in a timely manner.
There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and 
your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a 
lot if you could test the current Ubuntu version (10.04). If you can test it, 
and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could upload updated logs 
by running apport-collect , and any other logs that are relevant for 
this particular issue.

the problem also occurs when pm-suspending from vt, in exactly the same
way as with gdm.

the issue is very well reproducible: it happens every time i attempt to
suspend/resume after previously suspending/resuming successfully. that
is, every 2nd suspend/resume process fails.

i've been experiencing the same issue with a Gigabyte X38-DS5.

after when initiating resume by power-on button, drives and fans started
spinning up, mouse and keyboard leds lit, but display kept dark with
just a blinking cursor in the top-left corner. i tried to wait it out,
but had to hard-reset it after 5 minutes. the following boot was fine
with no apparent fs errors. when desktop was ready, i suddenly got the
crash notification of the previous suspend/resume issue.

If the machine had come all the way up the report should not have been
reported.  Could you tell us the nature of the problems you saw?  Is
this reproducible?  If so could you try reproducing it from VT-1, hit
ctrl-alt-F1, login, and run pm-suspend from there; this may give us more
information on the issue.
