Are these wireless mice? I notice that my Logitech wireless mouse sometimes goes to sleep and will not wake unless I click the mouse button. I also see a similar problem on two of my 32-bit gnome-ubuntu jaunty machines. The screensaver does not respond to moving the mouse, only to the keyboard. And it takes an abnormally long time for the passwd check to succeed, and for the screensaver to quit. FWIW, both machines have nvidia graphics, and use the nvidia driver.
