There's a script trying to do this in /etc/X11/Xsession.d/99syndaemon- launch. And here's xorg,0.log. I can run /usr/bin/syndaemon -S -i 3 -d -t, generating no errors, but also to no good effect! If there's any other info required, please let me know. Running /usr/bin/syndaemon -S -i 3 -d -t instead of just syndaemon it works.
