[Bug 342382] Re: indicator-applet icon looks like the evolution icon
also currently, the only thing that uses the indicator applet is the evolution mail notifier, correct? all i see are disadvantages: 1. people who (for some reason) run evolution in KDE or other desktops won't get new mail warnings. 2. it adds to the complexity of the panel. 3. it takes up precious real estate for those of us who try to squeeze everything into one panel. -- indicator-applet icon looks like the evolution icon https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/342382 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 342382] Re: indicator-applet icon looks like the evolution icon
i have a question? why do we need both an indicator applet and a notification area? i don't see a big difference between the two, and things like new mail icons use to show up in the latter. is there a UI spec i can read somewhere with a rationale for this? thanks, alvin -- indicator-applet icon looks like the evolution icon https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/342382 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 342382] Re: indicator-applet icon looks like the evolution icon
I believe the intended design is that the messaging indicator will take the place of both the pidgin and evolution indicators, and will also work with other messaging related programs that are tweaked for it. So it should, in face, reduce the number of indicators. -- indicator-applet icon looks like the evolution icon https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/342382 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 342382] Re: indicator-applet icon looks like the evolution icon
thanks for the answer, rick. not to belabour the point, but isn't that exactly what the notification area is designed to do? and the spec for putting stuff in the notification area is the same for KDE and other desktops, so an application built for one desktop will still be functional in another. -- indicator-applet icon looks like the evolution icon https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/342382 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
