Although I am in the circumstance of having my network shut down permanently whenever I close my laptop, but that's a deeper problem-- restarting KNetworkManager doesn't fix it. Never mind; I missed the option to automatically connect. It works differently--GNOME would automatically connect to any available network. Thanks for the report. I have a few questions that might help solve the issue. 1. Have you installed all updates to 8.10? 2. What type of connection do you have? Wireless, ethernet...? 3. Have you checked the auto connect check box when you create a new connection?
