You are correct. I guess I didn't check too thoroughly when updating the patch. I think it's possible the control changes are still desirable from a python packaging standards perspective. Depends now on libpython2.6 - when building with your patch, still only a python2.6 lib is build. I've attached a debdiff that updates the Python portions of debian/control so dia-libs and the like depend on the current Python version. The debdiff also contains some changes to the docbook XML so the build would not die on xmlto validation errors. I'm not sure if I should file a separate bug for this as the fix is present in the attached debdiff.
