[Bug 346410] Re: launching in Unable to play audio file console message "Unable to open mixer /dev/mixer"
I do not sure this is a transcriber bug. The problem is easily solved by installing libsnack2-alsa (this is possible with transcriber-1.5.1.1-6) instead of libsnack2 or by providing some oss emulation (e.g., using padsp). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/346410 Title: launching in Unable to play audio file console message "Unable to open mixer /dev/mixer" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/transcriber/+bug/346410/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

You want the "alsa-oss" package. This just bit me too. Not a fatal bug, but still annoying. The lack of direct support for ALSA has been reported upstream too ... https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=2943647&group_id=40021&atid=426843 ** Bug watch added: SourceForge.net Tracker #2943647 http://sourceforge.net/support/tracker.php?aid=2943647 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/346410 Title: launching in Unable to play audio file console message "Unable to open mixer /dev/mixer" -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 346410] Re: launching in Unable to play audio file console message "Unable to open mixer /dev/mixer"
I am having the same problem in Ubuntu Maverick (beta). Creating the symbolic links: sudo ln -s /dev/snd /dev/sound sudo ln -s /dev/dsp /dev/snd/dsp as mentioned in other forums did not fix the problem. -- launching in Unable to play audio file console message "Unable to open mixer /dev/mixer" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/346410 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
