You'll need to install heartbeat 2.99 from source I'm afraid. On the other hand, Heartbeat 2.99.x only lacks of the CRM, or if you don't know what that is, it is actually the coding that manages the cib.xml, file where you configure all the resources. The reason of this is because Pacemaker works as the CRM for Hearbeat since version 2.99.x. The reason of that error, is simply because the heartbeat version on the Repos is 2.1.4, so that version still includes the CRM in the heartbeat code and is not compatible with Pacemaker yet. This bug is mirrored upstream. http://bugs.debian.org/cgi- bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=488636 Cursory research into both heartbeat and pacemaker packages suggests this issue is due to project split, which lead to some confusion between filenames etc. According to http://www.linux-ha.org/HomePage , for compatibility between heartbeat and pacemaker, it's required that we use heartbeat v. 2.99.0.
