Expected behaviour : SCIM (1.4.7-3ubuntu12) can be used to input CJK
text into a Gmail text box, as was the case in (64-bit) Intrepid and its
predecessors.

Observed behaviour : SCIM does not work in Gmail (or, for that matter,
in Launchpad) after upgrading to (64-bit) Jaunty beta. Nothing happens -
i e, no input choices are made available - when I click the SCIM button
on the Gnome panel when using these applications. It does, however, work
nominally, showing the choices I have selected, when I use such
applications as the Gnome text editor or different versions of OOo 3.
