[Bug 352162] Re: ubiquity crashed with TypeError in translate_widgets()
Hi Ratte, This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report. apport-collect -p linux 352162 Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream- testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results. Thanks in advance. [This is an automated message. Hello! It seems that my very new computer has a problem with dual channel RAM. When I unplug one of the two modules I can finish the installation. The mem86 check gives after 5 passes no errors!? regards Georg Am Dienstag, den 31.03.2009, 11:59 + schrieb Colin Watson: > There seems to be something wrong at the kernel level that's causing > problems here. [Bug 352162] Re: ubiquity crashed with TypeError in translate_widgets()
There seems to be something wrong at the kernel level that's causing problems here. Your logs show a kernel traceback right before ubiquity falls over: Mar 31 05:43:38 ubuntu ubiquity[7341]: log-output -t ubiquity fontconfig-voodoo --auto --force --quiet Mar 31 05:43:38 ubuntu ubiquity[7341]: debconffilter_done: Language (current: Language) Mar 31 05:43:38 ubuntu ubiquity[7341]: Step_before = stepLanguage Mar 31 05:43:38 ubuntu kernel: [36280.607916] Bad page state in process 'ubiquity' Mar 31 05:43:38 ubuntu kernel: [36280.607918] page:e20001a2cf40 flags:0x0108 mapping: mapcount:1 count:0 Mar 31 05:43:38 ubuntu kernel: [36280.607928] cgroup:88007b19e7f8 Mar 31 05:43:38 ubuntu kernel: [36280.607930] Trying to fix it up, but a reboot is needed Mar 31 05:43:38 ubuntu kernel: [36280.607932] Backtrace: Mar 31 05:43:38 ubuntu kernel: [36280.607937] Pid: 7341, comm: ubiquity Not tainted 2.6.27-7-generic #1 Mar 31 05:43:38 ubuntu kernel: [36280.607940] Mar 31 05:43:38 ubuntu kernel: [36280.607941] Call Trace: Mar 31 05:43:38 ubuntu kernel: [36280.607951] [] bad_page+0x7f/0xd0 Mar 31 05:43:38 ubuntu kernel: [36280.607956] [] free_hot_cold_page+0x1dd/0x1f0 Mar 31 05:43:38 ubuntu kernel: [36280.607961] [] free_hot_page+0x10/0x20 Mar 31 05:43:38 ubuntu kernel: [36280.607965] [] put_page+0x60/0x110 Mar 31 05:43:38 ubuntu kernel: [36280.607970] [] do_wp_page+0x3b7/0x640 Mar 31 05:43:38 ubuntu kernel: [36280.607975] [] handle_mm_fault+0x3b0/0x470 Mar 31 05:43:38 ubuntu kernel: [36280.608007] [] ? do_ii_read_lock+0x36/0x40 [aufs] Mar 31 05:43:38 ubuntu kernel: [36280.608024] [] ? di_read_lock+0x68/0x80 [aufs] Mar 31 05:43:38 ubuntu kernel: [36280.608032] [] do_page_fault+0x34f/0x750 Mar 31 05:43:38 ubuntu kernel: [36280.608037] [] ? up_read+0xe/0x10 Mar 31 05:43:38 ubuntu kernel: [36280.608043] [] ? fget_light+0x9/0xb0 Mar 31 05:43:38 ubuntu kernel: [36280.608048] [] ? sys_sendto+0xef/0x120 Mar 31 05:43:38 ubuntu kernel: [36280.608054] [] error_exit+0x0/0x70 Mar 31 05:43:38 ubuntu kernel: [36280.608057] Mar 31 05:43:39 ubuntu ubiquity[7341]: Exception in GTK frontend (invoking crash handler): Mar 31 05:43:39 ubuntu ubiquity[7341]: Traceback (most recent call last): Mar 31 05:43:39 ubuntu ubiquity[7341]: File "/usr/lib/ubiquity/bin/ubiquity", line 229, in Mar 31 05:43:39 ubuntu ubiquity[7341]: main() Mar 31 05:43:39 ubuntu ubiquity[7341]: File "/usr/lib/ubiquity/bin/ubiquity", line 226, in main Mar 31 05:43:39 ubuntu ubiquity[7341]: install() Mar 31 05:43:39 ubuntu ubiquity[7341]: File "/usr/lib/ubiquity/bin/ubiquity", line 68, in install Mar 31 05:43:39 ubuntu ubiquity[7341]: ret = wizard.run() Mar 31 05:43:39 ubuntu ubiquity[7341]: File "/usr/lib/ubiquity/ubiquity/frontend/gtk_ui.py", line 413, in run Mar 31 05:43:39 ubuntu ubiquity[7341]: self.process_step() Mar 31 05:43:39 ubuntu ubiquity[7341]: File "/usr/lib/ubiquity/ubiquity/frontend/gtk_ui.py", line 1001, in process_step Mar 31 05:43:39 ubuntu ubiquity[7341]: self.translate_widgets() Mar 31 05:43:39 ubuntu ubiquity[7341]: File "/usr/lib/ubiquity/ubiquity/frontend/gtk_ui.py", line 577, in translate_widgets Mar 31 05:43:39 ubuntu ubiquity[7341]: self.get_string('partman/text/undo_everything')) Mar 31 05:43:39 ubuntu ubiquity[7341]: TypeError: GtkButton.set_label() argument 1 must be string, not None Reassigning over to the kernel for further diagnosis. ** Package changed: ubiquity (Ubuntu) => linux (Ubuntu) -- ubiquity crashed with TypeError in translate_widgets() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/352162 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
