The conflict has been dropped upstream in Debian, so this bug is resolved for the natty release. ** Changed in: gourmet (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/355866 Title: Gourmet in dependency conflict with python-pysqlite2 (& its dependents like Miro) -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thomas, Individual .deb packages downloaded from sourceforge are subject to MITM attacks. I would encourage you to publish your debs in a secure fashion instead, e.g., using Launchpad PPAs: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+ppas As for getting the fix for this conflict into Ubuntu: the Debian fix will be merged into Ubuntu maverick but does not meet the criteria for a post-release update for 10.04. -- Gourmet in dependency conflict with python-pysqlite2 (& its dependents like Miro) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/355866 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 355866] Re: Gourmet in dependency conflict with python-pysqlite2 (& its dependents like Miro)
Matt -- I can't control the ubuntu side of things, but you can upgrade using the upstream packages. That helps me (the writer of the software) because it allows you to generate bug reports on my latest releases and let me fix them right away (resulting in fewer bugs getting "frozen" for 6 months at a time in an ubuntu release). Will Ubuntu be upgrading to the new version soon? [Bug 355866] Re: Gourmet in dependency conflict with python-pysqlite2 (& its dependents like Miro)
It looks like this has been fixed in the Debian packaging for their 0.15.4-4 package: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=586880 When Ubuntu upgrades to that version, this bug should be gone. As far as the underlying problem goes, it was probably fixed by the following commit: 2009-05-10 Thomas Hinkle * src/lib/backends/db.py (RecData._force_unicode): Force unicode for modify methods as well (fixes traceback on import with non-unicode text that was getting fed straight to sqlite. ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #586880 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=586880 -- Gourmet in dependency conflict with python-pysqlite2 (& its dependents like Miro) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/355866 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 355866] Re: Gourmet in dependency conflict with python-pysqlite2 (& its dependents like Miro)
Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala I experienced the same problem: I've had Miro installed from Ubuntu repositores [miro (2.5.3-1ubuntu1)] and its automatically uninstalled when I install Gourmet (Gourmet Recipe Manager 0.14.5) via Ubuntu Software Center. When I try to install Miro again via Synaptic, I realized the conflict issue. My workaround: Gourmet Recipe Manager 0.14.5 already installed; I added the ppa of Miro ( https://launchpad.net/~pcf/+archive/miro-releases ) and installed it via ppa [version: Miro 3.0.1 (247af86e)]. I got no warning about a conflict. Now, they are running side by side. I believe that similar result can be get in Lucid as well. I have no idea about the mentioned other conflicting programs but Gourmet and Miro can be installed side by side so I believe that if the newer version of Miro is included in the repositories (if there's no other issue with it) the problem will disappear.
BTW: it is possible that not all of those applications still need python-pysqlite2, as we don't have python < 2.5 in the repositories anymore, and python >= 2.5 include sqlite3, which is functionally equivalent. -- Gourmet in dependency conflict with python-pysqlite2 (& its dependents like Miro) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/355866 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
