Widget layer closes on any window action, whether it is inside the
widget layer or not.

This includes notifications disappearing and closing/minimizing windows
(regardless of them being in the widget layer or not).

I seems that they haven't fixed this problem in Karmic yet.
I've uploaded the karmic package with the patch into my testing ppa, along with

when you move for example a widget, the widget layer goes out

[Bug 356374] Re: Widget layer disappears when interacting with applications within the widget layer

2009-04-28 Thread Ken VanDine
I don't know if the notifications/tooltips are really the same bug, that
is reported in bug 346467. It is suspicious that they cause the same
behavior.

I have tested this with a pristine (non-patched from upstream) compiz,
and couldn't reproduce this behavior. However the widget layer didn't
work at all.

2009-04-28 Thread Paul Hirst
I just noticed, it also happens when tooltips close. Ie, if evolution is
on your widget layer hover over one of the buttons until the tooltip
pops up and then move the mouse away. When the tooltip closes the widget
layer closes.

2009-04-28 Thread Paul Hirst
I also have the problem described above however I'd also like to report
another effect which is presumably related. The widget layer closes when
notification popups close. This is repeatable by

sleep 10; notify-send -u normal -t 5000 hi test

And activate the widget layer within 10 seconds. When the popup closes
(not opens) the widget layer closes too.

2009-04-27 Thread fatalGlory
I've just upgraded to jaunty and I am getting similar behaviour when
using audacious on the widget layer. I can reproduce the effect by
trying to bring up the audacious preferences window. The preferences
window appears, but the widget layer deactivates and the rest of the app
windows disappear with it.

2009-04-18 Thread Kilbasar
I can confirm this in jaunty. It occurs for me when interacting with
screenlets, which are set to run as widgets. Specifically, it happens
each time something is clicked in the "calculator" widget, rendering it
pretty much useless.
