[Bug 369515] Re: system freeze while emptying trash
Just happened again. This time I was using Xfce desktop. As usual, deleting large files separately and then running Empty trash helped. No crash after removing large files and directories from Trash. -- system freeze while emptying trash https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/369515 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 369515] Re: system freeze while emptying trash
I also have this problem occasionally and also no combination of keystrokes will free up the system. Usually happens when I have a large number of files in the trash. Have so far gotten around it by keeping the trash relatively empty, but it happened again today with only two files in there! Only thing that I can do is physically pull the plug. Otherwise the laptop will overheat as the fan won't kick in! [Bug 369515] Re: system freeze while emptying trash
During large file handling Trash was filled and when right click for empty trash system freezed completely, no keyboard response, no system monitor activity, no notebook fan work increased this mean no CPU 100% work... I think may be a nautilus bug or app handling files Thanks, Santiago.- -- system freeze while emptying trash https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/369515 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 369515] Re: system freeze while emptying trash
I just experienced a hard freeze while emptying trash. Ext4. I have done so in the past also, but not always. [Bug 369515] Re: system freeze while emptying trash
I can also confirm this bug. Happened a few minutes ago - again(!). About the fourth time for me. Had about 15 GB worth of data in the trash. Now, the file system hasn't given me the space back and the trash is empty after forced reboot (held down power button). How do I delete these files now?? Never happened on the same machine running 8.10 and EXT3. a tip for others: I have learned now to disconnect external hard drives and flash drives, closing all applications, and then I try to empty the trash bin... knowing the system will crash at least I prevented some loss of data.
