Public bug reported: Binary package hint: network-manager-gnome
Hi. In Ubuntu 9.04 Desktop, manual changes to the default gateway are ignored unless you also change the IP address. Steps to reproduce. First, use NetworkManager to specify a static Ip address. -Right-Click the NetworkManager icon in the notification area. -Select Edit Connections -Select "Auto eth0" -Click Edit -Click the IPV4 Settings tab -Specify an IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway. -Click Apply Next, try to change the default gateway -Right-Click the NetworkManager icon in the notification area. -Select Edit Connections -Select "Auto eth0" -Click Edit -Click the IPV4 Settings tab -Change the default gateway. -Click Apply Re-open the applet and you will see the default gateway has not changed in the GUI. The workaround is to change the IP and the default gateway at the same time, apply, and then change the IP back. That is a hassle. The bug is in nm-connection-editor. I'll see if I can find it and post a patch.
