This bug is only reproducible if you do not <enter> or <tab> off of the default gateway field. If you move off of the field before clicking apply then it works as expected.
it looks like connection-editor/page-ip4.c/cell_edited (...) needs to be called for the active cell when the apply button is clicked. That is probably beyond my abilities.
