Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gtwitter

>From the comments on
http://code.google.com/p/gtwitter/issues/detail?id=45 it appears the
latest Karmic build fixes this issue. I couldn't install the Karmic
package on Jaunty because dependency packages have been renames...

Dependency is not satisfiable: libgconf2.0-cil (>= 2.24.0)
Attempting to install libgconf2.0-cil - Error: Breaks exisiting package
'libgconf2.24-cil' conflict: libgconf2.0-cil ( )

Dependency is not satisfiable: libgnome-vfs2.0-cil (>= 2.24.0)
Installed: libgnome-vfs2.24-cil

Update: I dismantled the Karmic package from
http://packages.ubuntu.com/karmic/all/gtwitter/download

Altered the dependency list, repackaged with:
dpkg -b ~/gtwitter_1.0~beta-9_all gtwitter_1.0~beta-9_all.deb

All now works well. I didn't alter the maintainer details in the control
file and haven't uploaded .debs anywhere before. So I'm hoping a
maintainer can do this because the current version in Ubuntu releases <
Karmic is broken and unable to connect to servers

Relevant fix in beta-9:
[ Mirco Bauer ]
  * debian/patches/send_fetch_requests_as_get.patch:
    + Twitter doesn't allow POST requests for fetch operation anymore.
      This made the package unusable and thus urgency set to medium.
      (Closes: #524489)
