Hi! I am having similar problems with the network manager that comes with Ubuntu Studio. I am using a Clevo M570TU (http://www.clevo.com.tw/en/products/prodinfo_2.asp?productid=83). I ran into the same issue, I know why now. I didn't want to use network-manager anyway. Is it possible to use wireless under 9.04 without causing problems with real time audio capture? UbuntuStudio will never install network-manager by default, due to it causing problems with realtime audio recording. As a fix, I suggest to make Ubuntu Studio depend on network-manager- gnome, which worked for me. I installed Ubuntu Studio without ethernet cable, and was unable to use the wifi until I installed this package.
