It seems that your last comment describes a different problem. Since UXA is what is going to be used in the future, I suggest we focus on the crash you get in that case. Okay? Before investigating further, we would like to know if this occur in the updated driver versions. You may update you intel driver by adding the x-updates PPA to your /etc/apt/sources.list . See https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat/+archive/x-updates/ for more instructions. Let us know if the bug is fixed there. If it isn't you may try the xorg-edgers PPA at https://launchpad.net /~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa , but ready the warnings there before you try. A LiveCD (or LiveUSB) installation may be best if you don't want to risk having to reinstall you computer. You may also choose to skip this step, as we don't want to push people into doing things they do not feel comfortable with. You have a nice summary backtrace at the end of your last Xorg.0.log. We would like to get a more detailed backtrace, using a newer driver version, which you may get either with by using apport or more manual backtracing with gdb. Take a look at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Backtracing for how to do it.
